MAURICE JONESA REAL PERSON IN YOUR CORNER
I’m a retired professional engineer and STEM Ambassador. For over 9 years, I’ve tutored Maths and Physics up to GCSE, as well as helping primary pupils prepare for SATs. I’ve worked with students with special educational needs too.
My career began with an engineering apprenticeship with Blue Funnel Line in Liverpool, followed by sea service up to senior engineer officer. After studying Marine Engineering at Newcastle, I spent much of my later career overseas, managing ship operations and shipbuilding projects. As a STEM Ambassador, I also visited schools to promote maths and engineering.
I first enjoyed tutoring family members, and have been teaching online through Zoom since 2022. Seeing a student’s confidence grow, and helping them achieve better results than they expected, is particularly rewarding.
